POST-PRODUCTION IN PRODUCING A STOP-MOTION FILM
The post-production process for a stop-motion animated film is similar and includes all the post-production steps of a feature film, with some important steps: editing, sound design, music, voice recording, mixing, color correction, and visual effects.
Post-production enhances the quality of the overall film and plays a role in conveying the film’s message. This is also an important step that helps “level up” the whole film’s quality, directly affecting the final version.
Editing
After putting together many photos to create videos, these videos will be selected, edited, and completed to make the final version. A film can have hundreds of different edits ver until the editing meets the filmmakers’ requirements and successfully expresses the message of the whole film.
Sound Post-Production
Sound is extremely important and greatly affects the viewer’s experience when watching a movie. Sometimes, sound can support and enhance the visual of the film.
Sound post-production includes sound design, special sound effects, music, recording, and mixing.
Visual Effects (VFX)
This is the stage where filmmakers create special visual effects to improve the quality and appeal of the film (compositing, background removal, adding backgrounds, removing character rigs, adding effects, etc.)
Color Grading
Movies are shot in raw file format (without color filters), and color grading is an important step for the film’s visuals.
Color grading plays a big role in adjusting and improving the colors of the scenes to create the desired atmosphere, emotions, aesthetics, and intentions of the filmmakers.
